As a floral designer, it can be rare to actually experience one's work in it's intended element. Usually, we labor days before the wedding, get there early to sprinkle our magic floral fairy dust, and leave before the couple says "I do!" For Nicole and Jim, I was bursting with excitement craft florals for dear friends!
I've done countless weddings, and this was actually the first time I saw my bouquets walk down the aisle! It gave me such a new appreciation for the movement of a bouquet. The way the grasses caught the sunlight made them shimmer in an autumn glow.
These bouquets are just so fun to me.
The craspedia (aka "billy balls") are lighthearted,
the sword fern is daring,
the pampas grass is a natural glitter!
a metaphor for the fun evening ahead perhaps?
The intimate farm wedding took place at The Green Onion, in Chester NY. There you should talk to Hilary. She is the lovely owner of this organic vegetable store in the Black Dirt Region of the Hudson Valley. This was the first time they held a wedding celebration in the back area, and Hilary had it all come together seamlessly!
On a serious note, Noel McGrath Photography just dropped the mic on everything I thought I knew about great wedding photography. Her editorial-style pictures captured the warmth of the early autumn sunset over the black dirt fields, and all the love circulating in the air.
Thank you for letting me celebrate with you, Nicole & Jim.
PS: I nabbed this shot of the Burning Bush branches I used to structure around their ceremony arch.
